La Fortuna Waterfall Guided Hike with Farm-to-Table Lunch at La Finquita Farm
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
La FortunaA three-hour outing pairs one of the best-known waterfalls near Arenal with a working organic farm. The guide leads the way to La Fortuna Waterfall, which is born from the river of the same name and borders the Arenal-Monteverde protected area, home to a lot of wildlife and important for the tributaries that supply drinking water to nearby towns. Visitors can watch the falls from the viewpoint or take a steep but safe path of about 300 meters to get close. Swimming is permitted in the river, but not near the waterfall itself. The second half is at La Finquita Farm and Restaurant, a project built around regenerative and holistic agriculture. A walk through the grounds covers how crops are grown without chemicals, using compost made on site, and how microorganisms help restore the soil. The visit ends with a farm-to-table lunch of traditional Costa Rican food. The price includes hotel pickup and drop-off at select La Fortuna hotels, admission to the waterfall, an English and Spanish speaking naturalist guide and air-conditioned transport. Out-of-zone pickup fees, gratuities and alcoholic drinks are extra. Travelers need a high level of fitness, and a booking takes up to 15 travelers.
