Sloths, frogs, birds, butterflies and snakes share the rainforest on this route, and so does the tapir, another animal that depends on the same habitat. Sloths do not leave their natural home, so the operator treats a sighting as a sure thing. Wildlife is only half of the day. Guests also learn how coffee and chocolate are made and the history behind both, then make their own coffee and their own chocolate, a part of the tour that is both fun and educational. Lunch is a casado, the typical Costa Rican plate of the day. The last stop is the Llanos del Cortés waterfall, where swimming is possible. Season matters here: September and October are the rainy months, and the pool is sometimes closed to swimmers then. The rest of the year swimming is normally possible.
