Local Guide South Coast Tour from Hvolsvöllur: Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss and Vík (11/11)

The South Coast route runs along rugged shorelines, with distant mountains and waterfalls spilling off the cliffs, and this 8-hour tour covers its main sights with a local guide who also points out less obvious spots along the way. The stops are Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Reynisfjara and Vík. Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in the country, 25 meters wide with a drop of 60 meters (200 feet). At Reynisfjara, the black sand beach is the draw. Vík í Mýrdal is a remote seafront village in the shadow of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, which covers the Katla volcano. Lunch at a local restaurant in Vík can be added to the booking. The tour starts and ends at Hvolsvöllur. From Road 1, turn off past Seljalandsfoss, which will be on your right, and keep driving for 7 minutes until the paved road ends. After less than a minute on gravel, the operator's building is on your right. A local guide is included, and gratuities are not. Infant seats are available, bookings take up to 15 travelers, and guiding is in English.
