Two stops anchor this day trip for travelers staying in Arusha or Moshi: the Materuni Waterfalls and the Chemka Hot Springs, also known as Kikuletwa. The morning starts with a hotel pickup in Arusha or Moshi. In Materuni Village, home of the Chagga people, guests register at the village office and meet the local guide. The walk to the falls takes about 40 minutes, and the guide talks about Chagga culture, village life, local plants and coffee traditions. The path ends at an 80-meter cascade, and if conditions allow, the natural pool below is open for a swim. On clear days Kilimanjaro is visible. The second half is spent at Chemka Hot Springs, a quiet natural oasis. Its warm blue water is clear and sits among trees, with time to swim, take photos and rest. Local Tanzanian food and drinks are tasted during the day.
