Niagara Falls State Park Sunset Walking Tour by the Owner with Illumination and Fireworks (6/6)

The owner of the company guides this sunset walk through Niagara Falls State Park, the oldest state park in the U.S. The operator was among the first to run a sunset walking tour with fireworks at Niagara Falls, and it is licensed and insured, registered with NY State Parks and with the City of Niagara Falls. Groups stay small, with a maximum of 8 to 12 people, and a booking of more than 8 has to be a single group. That leaves room for photos, questions and a pace the group sets. The guide also acts as a local concierge during the stay, with suggestions for the area. The walk starts at the entrance of the park and heads for the brink of the American Falls, with stories of the history and oddities of Niagara. It follows the sunset over the river and then the illumination show. Goat Island comes next, with Luna Island between the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls, the Nikola Tesla statue and a walk to Terrapin Point for Horseshoe Falls. A short restroom break is possible. On the way back across Goat Island the guide covers the history of the Niagara daredevils. The fireworks are at 10pm daily from mid-May to mid-October, and the walk ends back at the starting location.

  1. 333 Prospect St, Niagara Falls

Meet at the entrance of Niagara Falls State Park, across from the Hard Rock Cafe. The guide wears a tour guide shirt.

  2. Niagara Falls State Park

A relaxed evening stroll through America's oldest state park starts after the meeting. The route heads for the brink of the American Falls, with history and oddities along the way, and is timed to catch the sunset over the river, then the illumination show. The guide picks the best vantage point for the fireworks.

  3. Niagara Falls

The walk begins at the edge of the American Falls, with the guide explaining the stories and geology that made the falls famous. Across the river, mist rises from Horseshoe Falls in the distance.

  4. Goat Island

Goat Island sits between the American Falls and Horseshoe Falls, which makes it an inside-out view of the falls rather than a look from a distance.

  5. A tiny natural wonder wedged between the American and…

Luna Island is a tiny spot wedged between the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls, and the guide's favourite stop for the views and the photo opportunities.

  6. Niagara Falls State Park

At the Nikola Tesla statue, Tesla looks over a set of blueprints that stand for his vision of a world powered by nature. The monument was a gift to the United States from Yugoslavia in 1976, for the 200th anniversary of the country. A short restroom break is possible.

  7. Niagara Falls

On the way to Terrapin Point the group sees Horseshoe Falls, the largest and most powerful of the three. The mist can show a rainbow on a sunny afternoon, and on a windy day it soaks visitors.

  8. Goat Island

On the way back across Goat Island and over the historic bridge, the guide tells the history of the Niagara daredevils, who have drawn crowds to the falls for over 150 years. Their stunts were the start of Niagara's identity as a tourist destination.

  9. Hard Rock Cafe

The tour returns to its starting location.

  10. 333 Prospect St, Niagara Falls
