Nordeste Waterfalls Private Tour with Salto do Cavalo Viewpoint and Wheat Museum

Nordeste has the highest and oldest mountains on the island, the highest coast, gardens and large volcanic walls. The operator also calls it the place where the sun rises each day and the land of poets, and as the place where settlement began. This private tour starts with a short city tour in Ponta Delgada, then follows the north coast. Stops include the Salto do Cavalo viewpoint, Ribeira dos Caldeirões with its waterfalls and water mills, Achadinha, Nordeste village, the Arnel lighthouse viewpoint, Ponta da Madrugada and a wheat museum with an old water-powered thresher. The Povoação valley viewpoint and the village of Povoação, the first on the island, come near the end. The return passes through the Furnas valley and along the south coast. The tour lasts 4 to 6 hours in a van with air conditioning for up to 8 passengers. Lunch is optional and not included.
