Off-Trail El Yunque Waterslides and Waterfalls, Helmets, Fajardo Start, Luquillo Option

Two departure slots a day, one in the morning and one around midday, serve this hike into the east side of El Yunque, away from the main trail. The guide leads to waterfalls, natural pools and smooth volcanic rock waterslides, and keeps an eye on safety. Helmets and life jackets are provided, and the operator keeps the groups small, with up to 15 travelers per booking. The terrain is jungle, with swimming, climbing and canyoning along the way. Slides are natural. A rope swing is there, and cliff jumps are optional, so each guest can pick a level. The guide also talks about the rainforest ecosystem. Snacks and refreshments are included after the excursion. Meeting is at Farmacia Caridad #39 in Fajardo, next to Ralph's Supermarket off Highway 3, at 7:40 AM or 12:40 PM. Sneakers are required. Rideshare is discouraged unless approved in advance, because transportation bookings have priority, and a rideshare car without a van seat has to continue 20 minutes up the mountain. An add-on with transportation covers pickup from major hotels in the San Juan metro area, Rio Grande, Luquillo and Fajardo (Airbnb guests may get a nearby hotel or pickup point), and adds a 1-hour stop at the Luquillo Beach kiosks, where over 60 kiosks sell Puerto Rican food and drinks. Bring cash. Gratuities are not included. The tour is for ages 8 and up, in English, and is not recommended for pregnancy, spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health.
