Phnom Kulen Day Tour by US Army Jeep from Siem Reap with Guide, Snack and Lunch
A US Army Jeep with a driver takes the back roads from Siem Reap to Phnom Kulen, one of Cambodia's most sacred mountains, with ancient sites and ruins on its high plateau. The roads are narrow, quiet and pretty, and the route passes rice paddies, local markets, schools, villages and Buddhist temples before a stop at a palm sugar village, where palm juice is turned into sugar. Inside the national park the guide leads the exploration of the plateau. The trail runs through vine-covered jungle to the River of 1000 Lingas, with carvings across the riverbed, and to Preah Ang Thom, a huge stone Buddha carved on top of a rock inside a busy temple complex. The day is built as an eco-tour, with the history and religious meaning of Kulen alongside its unusual and endangered ecology. Lunch is at a local restaurant, followed by a swim at Kulen Waterfall before the return to Siem Reap. Pickup is at the hotel lobby at 8:00 am. Hotel drop-off, a snack, lunch, water, an English-speaking guide and the Jeep are included. The Phnom Kulen ticket and personal expenses are not. Up to 12 travelers per booking; infants sit on an adult's lap and infant seats are available.
