This is a climb on foot rather than a drive to the top. Hotel pickup brings guests to the foot of Phnom Kulen, where the trek begins at the local Buddhist temple of Preah Ang Choub and follows jungle trails through dense forest for about three hours. The trail passes the Valley of 1000 Lingas, where water flows over hundreds of lingams cut into the rock, and reaches the Preah Ang Thom reclining Buddha on top of the mountain, 15 meters long and carved from sandstone. The trek ends at the Phnom Kulen waterfall, with time to swim or rest. Poeung Ta Kho, the Amazing Cliff, is a viewpoint on the way up and is best visited in the morning. A legend ties the Thousand Lingas to a king who turned the stream into holy water by carving lingas into its bed, a water believed to have healing power, and he bathed at the waterfalls. Included are a private round-trip transfer by air-conditioned vehicle, a licensed guide (German, Russian, English, Chinese, Italian, French and Spanish are available), bottled water and all admission fees for the sites on the itinerary. Guests give their hotel name and address for pickup. Tips and anything not listed are not included. Lunch is available at local restaurants, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, at the guest's own expense. The mountain route is not recommended for people with back or bone conditions. Up to 15 travelers per booking.
