This full-day trip from Zagreb pairs Plitvice Lakes National Park with the watermill village of Rastoke, and the park ticket is part of the price. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with 16 lakes linked by waterfalls, and the visit combines wooden walkways, an electric boat across the lakes and a panoramic train ride. An English-speaking guide stays with the group through the park. There are two ways to join. The bus group meets at the stop opposite the Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb, which is the only meeting point for that option. The small group includes pickup and drop-off at selected locations in Zagreb. Either way the transport is an air-conditioned van or bus, and the first stop is Rastoke, where 17th-century watermills and small waterfalls line the river. The walk in the park is about 8.5 km in high season with no big inclines, so comfortable closed shoes are the main thing to pack. From November 1st through March 31st only the Lower Lakes can be visited and the train and boats may not run, which makes the day shorter than the usual ten hours. Food, drinks and gratuities are not included. Children under 5 can join only the small group option, and a passport or ID card should be brought along.
