This day tour from Zagreb runs in a van, with pickup at a chosen location in the city center between 7:45 and 8:15 am. The guide outlines the day and shares facts about the places ahead, and the drive to Rastoke takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic and weather. Rastoke, called Little Plitvice, gets a stop of roughly 40 minutes: cobblestone paths, waterfalls, and watermills that once powered the village, with time for a coffee at a riverside cafe. The main part of the day is at Plitvice Lakes National Park, planned from about 11 am to 3 pm. It is a walking tour of 8.5 km (5 miles) over marked wooden paths through the Upper and Lower Lakes, with a boat ride across Kozjak, the largest lake, and a panoramic train to some of the park's viewpoints. The guide talks about the geology of the park and the plants and animals living there. The van heads back to Zagreb around 6 pm. Two meeting points are listed in the city: the bus stop across from the Ethnographic Museum and Trg Ante Starcevica 1. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the scheduled departure.
