Private Day Trip from Bangkok: Erawan Falls, Rescued Elephants and Kwai Bridge
This private day in Kanchanaburi packs four very different stops into about 12 hours: Erawan Waterfall, a stretch of the Thai-Burma Death Railway at Tham Kra Sae, time with rescued elephants, and the Bridge over the River Kwai. At the elephant stop the point is to watch the animals and learn about them. At Erawan, the seven levels are there to be climbed one after another, with emerald-green ponds for swimming along the way. The railway stop is a walk on the line itself, with its dark history explained as you go, followed by a cave holding a Buddha image that once served as a camp for prisoners of war during the railway's construction. At the bridge, a short walk along the iron spans covers the long record of bloodshed and conflict from World War II. The group is yours alone, with a professional guide and a private air-conditioned vehicle. The price includes lunch, bottled water and all entrance fees. Private expenses are not included. The day involves walking and swimming, so travelers need at least a moderate level of fitness. It is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnancy. Up to 15 travelers can book together, with guiding in English.
