This private day from Bangkok includes Hellfire Pass, the rock cutting on the Death Railway that cost the lives of more than 16,000 Allied prisoners and countless Asian laborers in World War II. The day includes the walking trail to the cutting and the Hellfire Pass museum. The other stops are Erawan Waterfall, with its seven levels of emerald-green ponds to climb and swim in; a walk on the Death Railway built beside the river, followed by the Buddha image inside Kra Sae Cave; and the famous Bridge over the River Kwai, where a short walk along the iron span recalls the bloodshed and conflict of the war. A professional guide leads the day, with transport in a private air-conditioned vehicle. The price includes lunch, bottled water and all fees and taxes, and private expenses are not included. The railway walk and the waterfalls call for at least a moderate level of fitness. Up to 15 travelers can book together, with guiding in English.
