This private day combines a run of war-history stops with a long visit to a national park. The car and an English-speaking guide collect travelers from any hotel in the Bangkok city area at 7 a.m. The route runs through Kanchanaburi Province with green fields and small villages, with no stops along the way. In Kanchanaburi the first visit is the JEATH War Museum, which honors the prisoners of war who suffered building the Burma Railway, or Death Railway. Then come the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, where thousands of Allied soldiers rest, and the iconic Bridge over the River Kwai, which can be crossed on foot. Erawan National Park in Si Sawat is about an hour's drive away. Shaded forest trails lead to the terraced Erawan waterfalls, where there is time to relax, explore and swim in the clear water, so bring a swimsuit. A traditional Thai lunch is eaten at a local restaurant. The guide then drives back to Bangkok and drops the group at their hotel. Bottled water, lunch, all entrance fees and transport in an air-conditioned private car are included. Personal expenses are not. Up to 15 travelers can book, the day suits all fitness levels, and it is not recommended for pregnant travelers.
