Private Kulen Mountain and Beng Mealea Day Tour, Kulen Ticket Included, Custom Start (9/9)

A private day for one party, built around the waterfall of Phnom Kulen and the jungle temple of Beng Mealea, with the start time and any extra stops set by the traveler. A local Khmer guide who speaks English explains what life was like when these structures were built. An air-conditioned vehicle, pickup and drop-off, bottled water and the Kulen Mountain ticket are included. Meals are not, and neither is the Angkor Pass required for Beng Mealea, though the operator can take guests to buy it. At Kulen the day covers Wat Preah Ang Thom with its famous reclining Buddha, and a swim in the plunge pool at the foot of the waterfall. Beng Mealea lies 65 km east of the main group of Angkor temples. Far fewer visitors make the trip than to the temples near Siem Reap, so the ruins are often explored alone. The jungle has nearly overtaken the temple, with trees climbing the walls and ruined ceilings, and it is among the least-conserved Angkor temples. Guests unsure which hotel is listed for pickup should come to the office by 7:30 am. Up to 15 travelers per booking, and the tour suits all fitness levels.

Beng Mealea, also spelled Boeng Mealea, is a temple from the Angkor Wat period about 65 km east of the main group of Angkor temples.

  1. Phnom Kulen Waterfall

At the Kulen Waterfall there is time for a swim in a picturesque setting.

  2. Preah Ang Thom pagoda

Wat Preah Ang Thom is also known as the temple of the Thousand Lingas. A Khmer guide leads the visit and explains the site, including the reclining Buddha.

  3. Prasat Beng Mealea

Beng Mealea sits far from the other Angkor temples, and many visitors skip the trip, so the ruins are often explored alone. The jungle has nearly overtaken the temple, which makes it one of the least-conserved Angkor temples.
