The booking includes private transportation and parking, and the guide sets the pace for a party of up to 6 travelers. The outing runs about 5 hours. The destination is Las Tinajas, in Ceiba, on a trail the guide describes as well maintained and a good fit for families. The first walk lasts 20 to 30 minutes along the river, off the usual route. The guide talks about local history and the plants and birds of the rainforest, and the way passes native farms and towns. The Tinajas pool and cascades have clear water for swimming, and a swinging rope is there to try. A further 5 to 10 minutes on foot leads to another natural pool with a 20-foot natural waterslide and an optional 3-foot jump from a rock. There is a natural spring waterfall for photos, and the guide prepares fresh fruit for the group. After the hike, the group can stop at a small local restaurant for Puerto Rican food, available at an additional cost. Gratuities are not included. A life jacket is provided, a moderate level of fitness is needed, and the tour is not recommended for pregnancy, spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health. Guiding is in English or Spanish.
