A private three-hour hike on the Makamakaole Trail in the West Maui Mountains, led by a guide who calls it a favorite hike on Maui. The trail goes through a bamboo forest and across a stream on the way to a waterfall at the end. Along the route the guide points out flora and fauna of interest, perhaps even something edible, and explains Hawaiian history in the area. The group takes its time at the waterfall, and the pool is there for a dip to cool off. The way back repeats the jungle and the stream to the start. The guide takes photos throughout the hike, so nobody needs to stop to capture the moment. The hike is rated moderate, and some rock hopping is involved, so guests should be comfortable doing it. Shoes that can get wet are required. Bottled water and snacks are included. At least a moderate level of fitness is needed, the hike is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, and service animals are allowed. Up to 4 travelers can book, and guiding is in English.
