A full-day private tour around Materuni, with round-trip transportation from a hotel in Arusha or Moshi. It runs for about 6 hours. The morning is a hike of around 40 minutes to the waterfalls, with the guide explaining Chagga culture, village life, plants and animals. Kilimanjaro's summit can show up on a clear day, and the falls rise more than 80 meters. The way back leads to Materuni village for a traditional Chagga lunch, with the chance to taste local banana beer. A coffee session closes the visit: guests learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted and processed, help with the grinding to Chagga songs and dances, and drink their own cup. The price covers transport, lunch, water and a soft drink, and the entrance fee. Flights, tips and visas are not included. The trail to the falls is sometimes slippery, so good hiking shoes are advised. The tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or during pregnancy. Up to 6 travelers fit on one booking, and the guide speaks English.
