Herzegovina is a Mediterranean terrace above the Adriatic, with turquoise karst rivers running down from the mountains, rocky fields of fruit and vegetables, aromatic herbs and local wines. This private tour from Sarajevo samples it with Mostar, the Kravice falls and three towns: Konjic, Blagaj and Počitelj. The departure point is Đulagina 2, in the Old Town of Sarajevo. Konjic is one of the oldest permanent settlements in Bosnia and Herzegovina, going back almost 4,000 years, though the town in its present form arose in the late 14th century. Mostar, the third-largest city in the country, takes its name from the mostari, the bridge keepers who guarded Stari Most in medieval times. The Ottoman bridge from the 16th century is one of the most visited landmarks in the country. Blagaj has a Dervish monastery of nearly 600 years at the foot of a cliff by the source of the Buna. Počitelj is described as a UNESCO heritage site, was first mentioned in 1444 and hosts the longest operating art colony in southeast Europe. Kravice, on the Trebižat, is state-protected, green with chaste trees, poplars and figs, and open for picnics, camping and swimming.

  1. Đulagina 2, Sarajevo

The tour departs from Đulagina 2, in the middle of Sarajevo's Old Town.

  2. Konjic Bridge

Konjic is one of the oldest permanent settlements in Bosnia and Herzegovina, dating back almost 4,000 years. The town took its present form as an important place in the late 14th century.

    Extra fee

  3. Old Bridge Area of the Old City of Mostar

Mostar stands on the Neretva and is the third-largest city in the country. Its name comes from the mostari, the bridge keepers who guarded the Old Bridge in medieval times. The Ottomans built the bridge in the 16th century, and it is one of the most visited landmarks in Bosnia and Herzegovina, regarded as an exemplary piece of Islamic architecture in the Balkans.

  4. Blagaj tekija

Blagaj Tekija is a Dervish monastery outside Mostar, almost 600 years old, at the base of a cliff next to the source of the Buna. Its group of buildings is unusual and picturesque, and looks better in person than in photographs.

  5. The historic urban site of Pocitelj

This UNESCO-listed settlement was reconstructed recently, which restored its original form. It was first mentioned in 1444, though some documents place its construction in the late 14th century on the order of the Bosnian king Tvrtko. Besides its Oriental architecture and Ottoman feel, Počitelj hosts the longest operating art colony in southeast Europe.

  6. Kravice Falls

The Kravice waterfalls, originally called Kravica, are among the most beautiful natural sites in Herzegovina. The Trebižat cascades off a large tuff limestone deposit into the lake below. The state protects the area, which stays open to visits, picnics, camping and swimming. Chaste trees, poplars and figs grow all around, and lichen, moss and grass cover the tuff. Almost nothing man-made stands near the falls.

    Extra fee
