This Road to Hana tour strings together five named stops, with longer stops than the usual drive-through and time for guests to explore on their own. It begins with a 30-minute stop at Pua'a Ka'a State Park, a quiet place for photographs and for its clear water. A banana bread shop comes next, where guests can buy as many loaves as they like. Wai'anapanapa State Park gets the most time: volcanic rock on one side and the black sand beach on the ocean side. A short halt at Wailua Valley State Wayside Park gives a view over the valley and a chance to catch a breath. The last stop is Ho'okipa Beach Park, popular with windsurfers, where sea turtles can be watched resting on the beach. Between the stops the route includes waterfalls for swimming and jumping and a lava cave by the beaches. The operator says it leads guests to hidden spots that many other tours miss. The meeting point is the Ross Dress for Less on East Kamehameha Ave in Kahului.
