Salto de Pilar Cliff Jumping Hike with 5 to 30 Foot Jumps and Life Jackets
Salto de Pilar is a cliff jumping day for people who like to hike. The trail is 20 to 30 minutes on private land, climbing alongside a stream over volcanic rock to the jumping spot. The ledges run from 5 to 30 feet, and the landing is a natural freshwater pool about 15 feet deep. Non-swimmers are covered, because life jackets are provided for everyone. After the jumps the day ends at a local restaurant in the mountains, where the staff explain what traditional food is about. The meal is not part of the price, and the operator describes it as local food at a local price. Hotel pickup and drop-off, a professional driver and guide, and bottled water are included. Vegetarian and vegan options are available if requested at booking. Pack towels, an extra pair of socks, sneakers, hiking boots or hiking sandals for the trail, and sandals to change into afterward. Wear a bathing suit under comfortable clothes at pickup. Groups are up to 12 travelers, guided in English or Spanish. The activity is listed as suitable for all fitness levels but is not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health. Alcohol, other food and drinks, and gratuities are not included.
