Sloth, Monkey and Dart Frog Day with Llanos de Cortés Hike, Tico Lunch and Guide
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
Playa HermosaSloths top most visitors' wish lists in Costa Rica, and this day is built around finding them. An English-speaking naturalist guide collects guests in a private vehicle at their Guanacaste beach hotel and drives past the outskirts of Liberia into open hills. A short hike leads to the pool where the wide Llanos de Cortez falls into a large basin, a good spot for photos. Lunch is a hot Tico meal with natural fruit juice. The route then runs north along the Pan American highway into dense hills where sloths and monkeys live, and where Blue Jean dart frogs and other colorful frogs sit near the river banks. Toucans and scarlet macaws are among the other animals that may show up, all of them wild and none caged. The guide supplies facts about Costa Rica and its history and handles the spotting. Wildlife cannot be cued, so no sighting of every listed species is guaranteed.

Bill Beard's Costa Rica
A naturalist guide who speaks English picks guests up in a private vehicle at their Guanacaste beach hotel for a day of Costa Rican nature. The drive passes the outskirts of Liberia, the capital of Guanacaste, and reaches rolling hills and open country. A short hike ends at the large pool where Llanos de Cortez falls, a spot worth photographing. A stop on the way allows a rest, a stretch and a hot Tico lunch with a fruit drink. The route then continues north on the Pan American highway into dense hills with sloths and monkeys. Blue Jean dart frogs and other colorful frogs gather near the river banks, and there is ample time with the guide to search for them, as the area is full of wildlife, birds and plants. None of the animals are caged, and wildlife cannot be cued, so there is no guarantee of seeing every animal, bird or reptile listed.
