A group of up to 13 travelers shares this 12-hour day from Bangkok, which combines a waterfall with a ride on the Death Railway. It begins at Erawan National Park, where the seven-tiered waterfall drops into emerald pools. Visitors can trek through the rainforest and take a dip, and lunch is eaten around the falls. The history stop is Tham Krasae, a cave in Kanchanaburi that once sheltered Allied prisoners of war during the construction of the Death Railway. The day then moves onto the line itself: a train ride along the Death Railway to the River Kwai Bridge, through the forests and along the winding river of Kanchanaburi. Pickup is arranged at one of four meeting points between 6:10 and 7:00 AM, and the drop-off is at an MRT station or on Khaosan Road. A licensed guide goes with the group, in English, in an air-conditioned vehicle, and lunch is included. Two fees are paid separately and are mandatory: the Erawan National Park fee of 300 THB per person and the train ticket at 100 THB per person. Travelers should have at least a moderate level of fitness. The tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnancy, and infants sit on an adult's lap.
