A 13-hour day on the South Coast that finishes in hot water. The bus leaves the BSÍ Bus Terminal in Reykjavík, crosses lava fields, moss-covered hills and farmland with glacier-capped volcanoes in the distance, and makes a short stop at Hvolsvöllur, under Eyjafjallajökull, for the restroom and refreshments. The main stops are Skógafoss, Vík (where lunch fits in), Reynisfjara black sand beach, the Sólheimajökull glacier outlet and Seljalandsfoss, with its path behind the falls. The day closes at Reykjaböð, a geothermal bathing spot in the countryside, with free time in the naturally heated pools, a sauna and a cold plunge. Classic admission to Reykjaböð and the use of a towel are both included. The transfer back to Reykjavík leaves Reykjaböð at 21:00 and crosses the Hellisheiði mountain pass. The guide shares stories about Icelandic nature, geology and folklore. An app-based audio guide is included in several languages, though headphones are not, and Wi-Fi works on the bus. Food and drinks are not included. Bookings take up to 10 travelers, and guiding is available in German, Finnish, Korean, Mandarin, Japanese, English, Italian, French, Dutch and Spanish. Wear waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear at Seljalandsfoss, since the path behind the falls can be wet and slippery.

  1. Vatnsmýrarvegur 10, Reykjavík

BSÍ Bus Terminal is a central hub in Reykjavík, a short walk from the city center, and the main departure point for airport transfers and day tours.

  2. Reykjavik

The day starts with a drive out of Reykjavík along the South Coast. Lava fields, moss-covered hills, farmland and distant glacier-capped volcanoes pass by, while the guide tells stories about Icelandic nature, geology and folklore.

  3. Hvolsvollur

A short break in Hvolsvöllur, a village beneath Eyjafjallajökull. It is a chance to stretch, use the restroom and buy refreshments before the road continues.

  4. Skogafoss

Skógafoss drops 60 meters (197 feet) across a width of 25 meters (82 feet), often with rainbows on sunny days. Walk to the base to feel the mist, or climb the staircase beside the falls for a view over the coast. Local legend says Viking treasure is buried behind the waterfall.

  5. Vik

Vík í Mýrdal is the southernmost village in Iceland, set among cliffs, black sand beaches and volcanic terrain. There is time for lunch and a look around the village. Visitors can also walk down to Víkurfjara black sand beach, where Atlantic waves hit the dark shore below basalt cliffs and sea stacks.

  6. Reynisfjara Beach

Reynisfjara is a black sand beach known for its basalt column cliffs and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks rising from the Atlantic. Stroll along it and watch the waves, but keep a safe distance from the shoreline: sneaker waves here are powerful and unpredictable.

  7. Solheimajokull Glacier

Sólheimajökull is an outlet of the Mýrdalsjökull ice cap. A path leads to a viewpoint over the glacier lagoon, with floating ice, deep crevasses and blue-and-white ice. No hiking equipment is needed.

  8. Seljalandsfoss

Seljalandsfoss falls 60 meters (197 feet) from old sea cliffs, and a path leads behind the water. It is green in summer. Wear waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear, because the path can be wet and slippery.

  9. Reykjaboo Hot Springs

Reykjaböð is a geothermal bathing site in the Icelandic countryside. After the day on the road, there is free time in the naturally heated pools. Use the facilities at your own pace before the transfer back to Reykjavík leaves at 21:00.

  10. Reykjavik

The evening drive back to Reykjavík crosses the Hellisheiði mountain pass, with lava fields, volcanic terrain and distant mountains along the way.

  11. Vatnsmýrarvegur 10, Reykjavík
