Two national parks, one river and a historic bridge between them. This guided day opens at the Big Tree, where the guide explains the age of the baobab and what it means to local people, then moves on to the Zimbabwean side of the falls in Victoria Falls National Park. The trails there face the main curtain of water head-on, with stops at Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Rainbow Falls and the Cataracts. The bridge links the two countries, and crossing it brings the group into Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia. Paths on that side run closer to the river, toward the Eastern Cataract, Knife-Edge Bridge and the Boiling Pot, where the Zambezi drops out of sight into the gorge. Along the way the guide covers the geology of the river and the Batoka Gorge, seasonal water levels, the history of the border and the stories of early explorers such as David Livingstone. Pickup and drop-off, bottled water and an air-conditioned vehicle are included. Guests who do not need pickup can meet the guide at the main entrance of either park, in Livingstone or at Victoria Falls. Entry fees for both parks and the KAZA visa are paid separately. The tour takes about four hours, suits all fitness levels, is wheelchair accessible and takes up to 30 travelers per booking.

  2. Mosi-oa-Tunya / Victoria Falls National Park

The Zimbabwean side, on foot with a local guide. The group enters Victoria Falls National Park and follows rainforest trails to viewpoints at the Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Rainbow Falls and the Cataracts, with wide views of the largest curtain of falling water. On the way the guide covers the geology of the Zambezi and how the Batoka Gorge formed, why the falls are called Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke That Thunders) and what the name means spiritually, plus stories of David Livingstone. Birdlife and photo time are part of the walk, which suits nature lovers and first-time visitors.
