A local guide leads this two hour walking tour of Victoria Falls, mixing stories, legends and quirky facts with the viewpoints. The tour is aimed at solo travelers and small groups, and it follows the falls known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, "The Smoke That Thunders", with the personal tales and local history a guide brings. The falls are one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and straddle the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, dropping more than 100 meters into the Zambezi Gorge. Rainbows form in the spray, and a quiet walk along the rainforest path is part of the route. Adventure seekers come here for white-water rafting, helicopter flights and swims at Devil's Pool, but this tour stays on foot. The second stop is the Big Tree, a baobab a few minutes from the entrance to the falls, estimated to be over 1,000 years old. It makes a peaceful place to pause and photograph one of Africa's most enduring trees. Bottled water is included, park entrance fees are not. The tour is wheelchair accessible, including the transport, and suits all fitness levels. Up to 15 travelers can join one booking, and guiding is in English.

  1. Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. It straddles the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia and drops more than 100 meters into the Zambezi Gorge. Rainbows form in the spray, and the thunder can be felt underfoot. Rafting, helicopter flights and Devil's Pool swims draw adventure seekers, while a quiet walk along the rainforest path is enough to impress. Bring a camera and perhaps a rain poncho.

  2. The Big Tree

A few minutes from the entrance to Victoria Falls stands the Big Tree, a baobab estimated to be over 1,000 years old. Its trunk is wide enough to swallow a small car, and its branches reach out like old stories carried on the wind. Nature lovers and photographers favor it, and it is a calm place to pause and take a picture, far from the roar of the falls.
