Victoria Falls Guided Tour, Zimbabwe Side: 20 Tours and What They Cost
Typically under 30 EUR for two hours, and none of the 20 includes the park gate; 15 say so outright. Twelve are private, eight shared.
A Victoria Falls guided tour on the Zimbabwe side typically costs under 30 EUR for two hours, and that is not the whole price. Fifteen of the 20 listings on this page say outright that the park entrance is extra, and the Zimbabwe tariff changed in February 2026, so check the park's current figure. What that price buys is a guide, a path and, in eleven listings, a ride from your hotel. This page reads all 20, and ranks none of them by stars, since a perfect score on ten reviews tells you little: what the guide does, what pickup means, why six of them cost two to eight times the median, and who runs them. The place itself, with the months and the two banks, is on the Victoria Falls page.
If you want both banks in one day, the both-sides page costs more and adds a border crossing, and for the Zambian bank alone there is the Livingstone page. This page stays on the Zimbabwe bank, the one that faces the wall of the falls, and on the 20 listings that sell a guide there. The other way to see the same wall is the helicopter page, in the 120 to 250 EUR band for 12 to 13 minutes in the air, with taxes that can be extra.

What a Victoria Falls guided tour on the Zimbabwe side is
Read the 20 itineraries and the same walk comes back: a path through the rainforest that the spray feeds, with stops at the viewpoints for the Devil's Cataract, Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Rainbow Falls and Danger Point, ending near the Victoria Falls Bridge. Twelve listings give it two hours. The shortest is one hour, and the longest, a day with a flight and lunch, is five.
What does a guide add? Two listings answer for themselves, in identical words: the park is "safe and easy to navigate on your own", but a guide gives "a deeper appreciation". The listings claim history, geology and wildlife, and promise help with photographs. We would not hire a guide for the views. We would for a first morning, when you do not know the path or how wet it will be.
The viewpoints, in order
The route follows the lip of the first gorge, with the Devil's Cataract at one end and the bridge at the other. The photo shows the kind of view a walker gets: gorge walls of dark basalt, a fall in the distance and spray rising out of the gorge.
Which viewpoints are dry depends on the month. Listings say walkers are likely to get wet from about February to July, and a raincoat comes with two listings and for hire in others.
The bill: tour, gate, raincoat
Count what the listings say about the park fee, because the headline price hides the larger charge.
| What the listing says | Listings | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Says the fee is not included | 15 | In the inclusions list or in the description |
| Lists Victoria Falls itself under Not included | 2 | Reads as the gate; ask the operator |
| Says nothing about it | 3 | Assume it is extra |
| Includes the fee | 0 | None of the 20 |
| Quotes an amount | 5 | The figures quoted are behind the tariff, which changed in February 2026 |
The Zimbabwe tariff changed in February 2026, when VAT took effect, and the park publishes the current figures, so read them on the day. The gate is paid on top of the tour, and the listings that quote an amount are behind the tariff.
A guided tour under 30 EUR is a bigger bill once the gate is paid. Plan for the second number.
What moves the price
The median says little, because the page is two groups. Fourteen of the 20 listings cost under 60 EUR and almost all take two hours; eight are priced at exactly the same figure, under 30 EUR. The other six start at around 60 EUR and run to more than 120 EUR, and each has a reason.
| What changes | Length | Price band | What the listing offers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunrise, private | 2 hours | 30 to 60 EUR | Pickup at 06:00 to 06:15 and the early light on the falls; the gate is extra |
| Private with a vehicle | 2 hours | 60 to 120 EUR | Air-conditioned transport and a private guide; fees extra |
| Shared, with a bush walk to the gate | 1.8 hours | 60 to 120 EUR | A short wildlife walk through the bush before the falls; sightings are common but not guaranteed |
| Shared, vehicle and instructor | 2.5 hours | 60 to 120 EUR | An air-conditioned vehicle and a guide; no pickup details |
| Private, in several languages | 1 hour | 60 to 120 EUR | Guiding in German, English and French, with an evening option for the lunar rainbow on set dates |
| Walk, helicopter and lunch | 5 hours | 120 to 250 EUR | A guided walk, a flight over the falls and lunch at the Lookout Cafe or Baines; the park fee and government tax are extra |
The pattern is easy to read. Each premium buys something you can name: a vehicle, a language, a start time, a flight. The listings under 30 EUR sell the guide and little else, and for many visitors that is what they need.
Private or shared
Twelve of the 20 listings are private and eight are shared, and several private listings cost the same, under 30 EUR, as the shared ones. Private prices are per person here, like the shared ones, and none of the twelve quotes one price for the whole group, so the comparison is like for like. Most allow up to 15 travelers per booking, and the caps run from 2 to 23.
Guiding is in English in 16 of the 20 listings. Three offer more: one German, English and French, one German, English, French and Spanish, and one English and French. One listing offers an Italian guide on request, and one says a German, Spanish or French speaker is not included.
Pickup, meeting point and start time
Eleven listings name a hotel pickup, two tell you to meet the guide at the park gate, and three more list a vehicle without saying where it collects you. The other four say nothing, so ask. A hotel pickup matters because the rainforest gate is a drive from town, which one listing puts at 10 minutes, and the first slots are early. One listing sells four slots a day, from 08:00 to 17:00, and a sunrise listing picks up at 06:00.
Ending at the bridge
The walk ends near the Victoria Falls Bridge, which opened in September 1905 to carry the railway across the second gorge. In the photo you can see the arch up close, with a rainbow forming in the spray under it.
Seven listings add a last stop at the Big Tree, a baobab near the park entrance, and the operators disagree on its age: one says over 1,000 years, another between 1,500 and 2,000. It is a short stop and not a reason to choose one listing over another.
Who runs these tours
The 20 listings come from 19 operators; only Intondolo Safaris and Tours has two. Cuckoo Safaris leads with 112 reviews, 14% of the page. The rating is more fragile than 4.88 suggests. The top five listings hold 437 of the 774 reviews, 56%. Eleven listings are rated a perfect 5.0, and ten of those have fewer than 50 reviews, seven of them fewer than 25. A 5.0 on ten reviews is a promise, not a record. All 20 are sold through Viator, and all show free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
Three mistakes people make
First, comparing a price under 30 EUR with a both-sides price that already includes the transport, without adding the gate to both. Second, booking a Livingstone pickup and expecting the Zimbabwe side: one listing says pickups from Zambia do the Zambian side only. Third, reading the page's star rating as the quality of the walk.
The guide is cheap. The gate is not. Compare the second number.
When the walk is wet
The Zimbabwe-side walk works in any month. In the high-water season, about February to July according to one listing, you will be soaked and may want to leave the camera in a bag. In the low-water months, roughly October to December, the curtain is thinner, and Zambia Tourism says parts of the falls dry up from October. For the months in detail, and for what the river does to the two banks, see the Victoria Falls page.
Questions about guided tours of Victoria Falls
Do you need a guide at Victoria Falls?
No. Two listings say the park is safe and easy to navigate on your own. A guide adds history and geology stories, photo help and sometimes a vehicle from your hotel. For a first visit at under 30 EUR it is cheap, and the park gate is paid on top either way.
Is the park fee included in the tour price?
Almost never. Of the 20 listings, 15 say outright that it is extra, two list Victoria Falls itself under Not included, three are silent and none includes it. The main gate is a separate charge that changed in February 2026, so the real cost is the tour price plus the gate; check the park's tariff.
How long does the walk take?
Twelve of the 20 listings give two hours, and the median is two. The range is one hour for a private tour with transfers, up to five hours for a day that adds a helicopter flight and lunch. Allow extra if you add the Big Tree or pickup from a distant lodge.
Is a sunrise tour worth it?
One listing starts with a 06:00 pickup, in the 30 to 60 EUR band for 2 hours, and promises early light and rainbows. According to the listing, the viewpoints look into the rising sun, so the spray is backlit and rainbows build up. It is a good choice for photographers, if the gate fee suits you.
Can I do the Zimbabwe side from Livingstone?
Do not assume so. One listing says pickups on the Zimbabwe side do the Zimbabwe bank and pickups from Livingstone do the Zambian bank only. To see both, book a both-sides tour, which handles the border, and check what it includes.
Can wheelchair users do the walk?
Eighteen of the 20 listings carry the provider's wheelchair-accessible flag, and one says it is not recommended for travelers with disabilities. Two mention wheelchairs: one hires them for a fee and another says its guides help with stairs. Ask the operator which route it takes before you book.
Want the Zambian bank too?
The both-sides page reads the 18 day trips that cross the bridge, with gates and visas added up.
