Vík Lava Show, Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss South Coast Day Tour from Reykjavik
This day trip from Reykjavík starts with the Lava Show in Vík, and the tickets are covered in the price. Tephra, the black volcanic sand left by past eruptions on the south coast, is heated in a purpose-built furnace until it turns back into molten lava, and the presenters explain how lava behaves as it flows. Free time in Vík follows. The church above the village looks over the town, and the black sand beach below faces the Reynisdrangar sea stacks standing just offshore. On the way back west the bus stops at Skógafoss. Its roar reaches you before the water does, and spray hangs in the air around the base. You can stay at ground level or climb the long stairway to the top. The last stop is Seljalandsfoss, about 45 minutes, a gentler fall with a walking path that runs behind the water. The day lasts around 11 hours and runs in English, with up to 30 travelers per booking. Wi-Fi is on board and all fees and taxes are covered. Food and drinks are not included. Wear warm clothes and sturdy shoes, and children must travel with an adult.

South Region
The south of Iceland packs waterfalls, black beaches and volcanoes into one stretch. Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss are the two big falls, and at Seljalandsfoss a path leads behind the water. Eyjafjallajökull, which erupted in 2010, is in view across the region.
-
Skogafoss
The bus leaves Vík and heads west toward Reykjavík, with two stops still to come. Skógafoss is first: a 60-meter drop across a 25-meter width that throws up constant mist and, on sunny days, rainbows. Green slopes and cliffs frame the falls. A staircase leads to a viewing platform on top, with a wide view of the waterfall and the land around it.
-
Vik
Vík sits on the wild southern coastline, ringed by black sand beaches and basalt sea stacks. Vikurkirkja, the church above the village, has a far-reaching view.

Lava Show - Vik
The first stop of the day is the Lava Show in Vík. Black sand from real past eruptions on the south coast is heated in a purpose-built furnace until it melts back into lava. The presenters explain and demonstrate how lava behaves, and the show is run safely.
