YS Falls, Black River Safari and Floyd's Pelican Bar Day Trip, Driver and Transport Only
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
Montego BayThis full-day trip crosses the interior of the island to reach three stops: the waterfalls at YS, a boat trip on the Black River and Floyd's Pelican Bar by the sea. The rate pays for a driver-guide and transport, and nothing else. YS Falls comes first. The water drops about 120 feet into the YS River, in a setting of rain forest and cool, clear pools. The Black River follows, the longest river in Jamaica, where the boat passes exotic birds, plants and wildlife, including the endangered American crocodile. The day ends at Floyd's Pelican Bar, a spot to eat, have a drink and watch the sunset, which the operator ranks among the best in the world. Drop-off is back at the starting point in Montego Bay. Entrance fees are not part of the rate, so they need to be budgeted on top of the booking.

YS Falls
A tractor-pulled jitney carries visitors to YS Falls, a chain of seven waterfalls that fall into natural pools. Swimmers can use those pools or a wading pool 4 feet (1.2 meters) deep, set beside a patio and garden. A canopy zip line and river tubing are the other activities, and lifeguards are on duty. The estate has a restaurant that sells lunch, plus changing rooms and environmentally friendly restrooms. At the end of the full day the tour drops visitors back at the Montego Bay starting point.

Swaby's Swamp Safari
A boat tour on the Black River, Jamaica's largest navigable river, crosses the largest wetland area on the island, the Black River lower morass. The ride lasts 1 1/2 hours in a comfortable safari boat, past red mangroves whose stilt-like roots reach down from more than 40 feet. The rare American crocodile lives here in its natural habitat, and about 100 species of exotic birds can be seen. Local fishermen still catch fresh crabs from long, thin, traditional wooden canoes, in the same river as the crocodiles.

Floyd's Pelican Bar
Between Treasure Beach and Black River, a fishing boat carries the group a quarter mile out to sea to a wooden bar on a sandbar. The ride takes 15 to 20 minutes. People sunbathe, swim, drink beer and eat fresh fried fish. Local fisherman Floyd Forbes dreamed up the bar on stilts and brought the planks out on his boat. It was finished in 2001 and named after the flocks of pelicans resting on the sandbank. Weather permitting, the stop includes the sunset, cliff diving and a reggae band.
