YS Falls, Buffet Lunch and Black River Safari from Montego Bay or Grand Palladium

The way to the South Coast is half the story on this guided day from Montego Bay and the Grand Palladium. The road climbs into the mountains and runs through farming villages and old towns from the plantation era, and the drive takes about one and a half hours. The guide can point out the local fruits and the peppered shrimp sold in Middle Quarters, known as shrimp country. YS Falls comes first. A tractor jitney covers a ten-minute ride through the 2,600-acre property. At the falls there are natural pools and cascades, Tarzan ropes and swimming, with about an hour and a half spent here. Zip line canopy and tubing are optional, and the zip line is not part of the price. Lunch is a local buffet at the Riverside Dock in Black River: steamed vegetables, rice and beans, and fried chicken or stewed beef. Afterwards a safari guide takes the group up the Black River to see endemic birds, crabs, water lilies, American crocodiles and tarpon. The captain calls the crocodiles and feeds them chicken. Admissions, lunch, an air-conditioned minivan or bus and a professional driver and guide are included. Up to 15 travelers per booking, guided in English.
