2-Day Summer South Coast Tour with Solheimajokull Glacier Hike and Fjadrargljufur Canyon
This two-day summer tour covers Iceland's South Coast from Seljalandsfoss to the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon. Day one visits Seljalandsfoss, the hidden Gljúfrabúi waterfall inside a mini cave (expect to get wet), Skógafoss, where 527 steps lead to the top, and the black sand beach of Reynisfjara. It ends with a glacier hike on Sólheimajökull, with all safety equipment provided. The hotel is somewhere between Vík and Höfn, with plenty of time to explore the area. Day two goes to Jökulsárlón, where extra time is set aside for an amphibian boat tour into the lagoon, then Diamond Beach, the Eldhraun lava field, the Bridge of the Volcanoes in Skaftafell National Park and the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon, which is open only in summer. If time permits, the drive back includes more of Vík. The minimum age is eight years. Warm clothing and comfortable shoes are needed. Dinner is late for some travelers, so snacks are advised. July and August are very busy on the South Coast, and the tour fills up quickly.

A part of Jökulsárlón where chunks of glacier ice wash up on a beach and shine like diamonds when the sun hits them.

The famous glacier lagoon, with views of the glacier. Extra time here includes an amphibian boat tour into the lagoon for closer views.
-
Eldhraun Lava Field
A volcanic lava field, with close views of old lava.
-
Skaftafell National Park
The Bridge of the Volcanoes lies inside this national park, and the road through it gives views along the drive.
