2-Day Winter South Coast Tour with Blue Ice Cave, DC-3 Plane Wreck and Diamond Beach
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
SkaftafellThis two-day winter tour covers Iceland's South Coast with a blue ice cave as the main stop. Day one visits the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss, Gljúfrabúi and Skógafoss, then the DC-3 plane wreck, reached by shuttle, and the black sand beach of Reynisfjara. The night is spent between Vík and Höfn, where the guide shares the northern lights forecast. On day two a specially modified vehicle drives into the national park to a crystal-blue ice cave. Its location and appearance vary, because these caves form naturally. The route continues to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, with glaciers in the background, and to Diamond Beach, covered in chunks of glacier ice. Time and weather permitting, the tour also stops at the Eldhraun lava fields, the Bridge of the Volcanoes and Vík before returning to Reykjavík. Stops may vary with weather and available time. The minimum age is eight years. Warm clothing and comfortable shoes are needed, and snacks are a good idea, as dinner may be late.
