Katla Ice Cave Super Jeep Day Tour from Reykjavik with Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
ReykjavikThis day tour combines a super-jeep trip to the Katla ice cave with the main waterfalls of the South Coast. The group leaves Reykjavik by bus for Vík, where it switches to a super-jeep, because 4x4 power is needed for the climb onto Kötlujökull glacier. Guides with decades of experience lead the way to the natural blue ice cave and the ice formations around it. Crampons, harness and safety helmet are provided, and the ice cave outing takes around 3 hours. Ice caves keep changing, so the view may differ from the photos depending on season, time of day and light. Back in Vík there is time to see the village and its black beach and to have lunch. The bus then heads west toward the capital with two waterfall stops. Skógafoss is 60 meters high and 25 meters wide, and its mist makes rainbows on sunny days. Seljalandsfoss gets a 45-minute stop and has a walking trail behind the falls. The tour starts at Þórunnartún 6 in Reykjavik.
