A local guide runs this hike and sets the pace for the whole group, from the first safety briefing to the last river crossing. The group meets in Curubandé, in front of the Curubandé school, where the guide gives some background on the hike and goes over safety. A short ride of 5 minutes follows to the start of the trail. The walk runs along the river canyon through forest on the riverside. It crosses rocky caves and river crossings, and passes volcanic caves and blue pools that have to be swum across. The last step is the canyon where the hidden waterfall sits, entered by pulling along a rope. The booking includes the local guide, taxes, a life vest and dry bags. Private transportation is not included. Groups are capped at 10 travelers per booking, and guiding is in English, French or Spanish. A moderate level of fitness is needed. It is not recommended for pregnant travelers or for people with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health. Mobile or paper tickets are accepted. The outing is set at about 3 hours.
