La Leona Waterfall Hike and River Tubing Combo near Rincon de la Vieja

Two activities share one booking here: a hike to La Leona Waterfall and a tubing run on the river, both in the canyon country around Rincón de la Vieja Volcano. The volcano region is known for the canyons and rock formations the water has cut into it. The waterfall part is the longer one, about 3 hours. The trail goes through forest past large rock formations, across streams and up small ladders. At the end the group pulls itself along a rope to reach a big cave, where there is room to swim and see the waterfall. The river tubing part runs about 1 hour 30 minutes. Another 30 minutes go to a short break and free time in the river, before or after the tour. Helmets, life jackets and paddles are provided. No food is included, and gratuities are extra. Guests should arrive 15 to 20 minutes before departure to get ready and start on time. Guiding is in English or Spanish, up to 15 travelers can book together, and a moderate level of fitness is needed. The tour is not recommended for pregnant travelers or for anyone with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health.
