Materuni Waterfalls, Coffee Experience and Moshi Town Tour Ending at a Rooftop Bar (5/5)

This day pairs a village in the foothills with a town. A pick-up in Moshi leads up about 15 km to Materuni, roughly 1,800 m above sea level, where the air is cooler and the landscape greener. After registration the group hikes around 45 minutes to the waterfall along banana and coffee farms. Back in the village a local family hosts the coffee tour: how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted and processed, with guests invited to help and then drink the cup they made. The group then drives to Moshi for a town tour covering the town's history, the market, and how people of different religions, ethnicities and political views live side by side. The route ends at a rooftop bar with views of Moshi and, on a clear day, Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. Private transportation, lunch, and all fees and taxes are included. Gratuities and the rooftop bar drink are not. The meeting point is the junction of Kaunda and Boma Road. Up to 6 travellers can book together, guiding is in English, and service animals are allowed. The day is not recommended for travellers with poor cardiovascular health.

A pick-up in Moshi town is followed by a drive of about 15 km up to Materuni, roughly 1,800 m above sea level on the foothills of Kilimanjaro, where the climate turns cooler and the landscape greener. After registration comes a hike of about 45 minutes to the waterfall, along banana and coffee farms with wide views. The group then returns to the village for a coffee tour at a local home: how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted and processed, with a chance to help and to drink the cup the guests made. A drive back to Moshi follows for a town tour with its history, a visit to the market and a look at how people of different religions, ethnicities and political views live together peacefully. The day finishes at a rooftop bar overlooking the town and, on a clear day, Mount Kilimanjaro; the drink is paid separately.
