This three-hour half-day outing picks guests up at their hotel in Moshi and drives them to Materuni village, on the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. The day starts with coffee. At a local farm the guide shows how coffee is grown, harvested and processed, and guests try roasting and brewing a fresh cup the Chagga way before tasting it. The walk comes second: about 30 minutes through hills and valleys to Materuni Waterfall, around 90 m tall and the highest fall at the foot of the mountain. The water is cold and a swim is possible, so swimwear should come along. Along the way the guide talks about daily life among the Chagga, the tribe that lives on Kilimanjaro's slopes. Lunch and all fees and taxes are included. Guiding is offered in German, English, Chinese, Italian, French and Spanish, and up to 12 travellers can book together. A moderate level of fitness is required.
