Outfitters Kauai Wailua River Kayak and Uluwehi Falls Hike with Picnic Lunch, Small Group
Outfitters Kauai runs this Wailua River trip as a small-group outing of at most 12 people, with one guide for roughly every 8 to 12 passengers. The kayaks are deluxe two-person boats with high-back seats and foot-controlled rudders, and the guides tell Hawaiian legends and cultural background on the water. The paddle takes 60 to 90 minutes each way (about 2 miles). A moderately strenuous hike of about a mile each way, usually muddy, follows through the jungle to 100-foot Uluwehi Falls, where guests swim and eat a picnic lunch of a turkey sandwich, carrots and a brownie (the menu can change without notice). Cold spring water and juices, a dry bag or day pack and local taxes are included. The trip meets at Wailua Marina, where guests park and walk to the Outfitters Kauai van. Since 2/15/26 the State of Hawaii charges $10 per car and $5 per non-resident for entrance, payable by credit card only and not covered by the tour price. Wear swimwear and wet-ready footwear with an aggressive tread, such as Teva-type sandals or aqua socks, and bring a towel, sunscreen, insect repellent and a waterproof camera. A minimum of 4 passengers is needed for departure, a booking holds up to 5 travelers, and minors must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian.
