Private Full-Day Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Village Tour from Moshi Hotels (4/4)

This eight-hour private day starts at a hotel in Moshi, where a guide collects guests in the morning and drives them to Materuni, a Chagga village at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro with views over Moshi Town and the mountain. The path to the waterfall sits at about 2,400 m above sea level and runs through valleys and hills of tropical rainforest, past coffee, banana and avocado "shambas", the Kiswahili word for farms. The fall is 80 m high, one of the tallest in the area, and pours clear glacier water into its basin. The last stretch to the base can be demanding, and hiking boots are recommended, especially in the wet seasons. On a clear day Kibo and Moshi town show from the trail. Materuni lies so close to Moshi that the day suits travellers with limited time who still want some of the region's nature. All entrance fees, private transport from and to Moshi, meals and pure drinking water are included. Tips, items of a personal nature and laundry services are not. Guiding is in English, up to 15 travellers can book together, and the day suits all fitness levels.
