Private South Coast Day Tour from Reykjavik with Gljufrabui, Dyrholaey and Glacier Hike
This private day trip from Reykjavik drives the South Coast in about 10 hours. The route starts at Seljalandsfoss, where a path leads behind the falls, and continues to the hidden Gljúfrabúi waterfall, a short walk away that may involve wading through a stream depending on the water level. Skógafoss follows, with a drop of about 60 meters and a width of about 25 meters. Dyrhólaey adds cliffs, a rock arch and black sand beaches, and Reynisfjara has basalt columns and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks. The last stop is Sólheimajökull, an outlet glacier of the Mýrdalsjökull ice cap, before the drive back to Reykjavik. An axe, crampons, helmet and harness are included for the glacier. Meals, snacks and drinks are not, nor is personal clothing and gear, and extra entry fees for attractions not on the itinerary can often be added on request. At least a moderate level of fitness is needed, and the trip is not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health. Infants sit on an adult's lap, and small children can ride in a pram or stroller. Up to 15 travelers per booking, guided in English.
