The day begins at 6:00 a.m. in Malang, when a driver and guide pick travelers up and take the Lumajang road to the Tumpak Sewu area, about 3 hours away. The trek to the waterfall then takes around 2 to 3 hours, with a private guide. The first stop is the panoramic viewpoint. On a clear day the falls can be seen with a rainbow above them, framed by an active volcano and Mount Semeru, Java's highest peak. Concrete stairs and rocks lead down to the base, which has several popular photo spots. Next comes a swim at Telaga Biru, a natural pond that had a sandbag wall before the 2023 flash flood. The last stretch reaches Goa Tetes over limestone stairs and a steel ladder, before the group returns to the parking area to clean up. The drive back to Malang stops for lunch at a local restaurant. Tumpak Sewu and Goa Tetes entrance tickets, a professional guide, bottled water, an air-conditioned vehicle, fuel, parking and charges are covered. Meals and personal expenses are not. Sandals or trekking shoes and a swimsuit are needed. The road is not wheelchair accessible, and the trip is not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health. Up to 10 travelers per booking; guiding in Arabic, Korean and English.
