Summer Small-Group Rockies Tour from Calgary: Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, Takakkaw Falls
This one only runs in the summer months, because Moraine Lake sits high enough that snowfall closes access for part of the year. The group is small, and the day pulls together four places: Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, Takakkaw Falls and the town of Banff. Moraine Lake lies in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, and glacial rock flour gives it its turquoise colour. Mountains and evergreen forest surround it, with the wide view coming from the Rockpile Trail. It is also one of the most photographed spots in the world. Lake Louise, in Banff National Park, has emerald water with towering peaks and the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise beside it. Summer is the time to canoe across it, with the mountains reflected in the water. Takakkaw Falls drops 373 metres (1,224 feet) down a cliff in Yoho National Park. Fed by the Daly Glacier, it runs hardest in late spring and summer, when snowmelt is at its peak. The day closes in Banff town, where there is time to walk past boutiques, cafes and local restaurants with the mountains behind. Pickup in Calgary is at the bus stop at Delta Hotels. Scenic drives and a few lesser-known stops fill the gaps between the main sights.

Moraine Lake
Moraine Lake is a glacier-fed lake in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, coloured turquoise by glacial rock flour. Mountains and evergreens surround it, and the Rockpile Trail gives the widest view. Snowfall at this altitude keeps it closed outside the summer season, and it is among the most photographed places in the world.
-
Lake Louise
Lake Louise is a glacier-fed lake in Banff National Park, known for its emerald colour from glacial rock flour. Peaks rise behind it and the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise stands at its edge. In summer visitors can canoe across clear water and photograph the reflections, among wildflowers and mild weather.
