Three-Day Tumpak Sewu, Goa Tetes, Bromo Jeep and Ijen Blue Fire Adventure
Day one goes down into the valley below Tumpak Sewu with a local guide, who watches the trail and talks about the geology and the tropical surroundings. Visitors see the falls from the top first and then walk down to the base for a close look at the cascade. Goa Tetes follows, a cave hung with stalactites where streams run over the rocks. On day two a 4WD jeep leaves early for a Bromo sunrise viewpoint such as Kingkong Hill or Penanjakan, where the sun comes up over the misty Tengger caldera with Bromo and Semeru behind it. The jeep then crosses the Sea of Sand past Pura Luhur Poten, and the last stretch to the crater rim can be walked or covered on horseback at personal expense. On the final night the group leaves the hotel 30 minutes before midnight and drives to the Paltuding area. The hike takes about two hours and ends inside Ijen's crater, where burning sulfur gas produces the blue flames. Afterwards the rim offers a view of the turquoise acidic lake and of the sulfur miners carrying their loads. The package includes accommodation, breakfast and a private air-conditioned vehicle, and a guide accompanies the group on every hike. The tour is a three-day, two-night trip.
