Tumpak Sewu, Telaga Biru and Goa Tetes Private Day Trip from Malang or Surabaya
A 5 AM start is recommended for the best views. Pick-up is at the hotel, the train station or anywhere in the pickup area, followed by a 2 to 3 hour ride through dense areas, traditional markets and winding mountain roads, with Mount Semeru (3,676 m) in sight on the Malang side. At Tumpak Sewu the first look is from above, at the panorama point. A walk of a thousand steps leads down to the foot of the falls, with time for photos, then on to Telaga Biru for a dip. The last climb goes up to Goa Tetes, a hidden cave that few visitors know, and back to the parking lot. Exploring takes 3 to 4 hours, so a strong heart and healthy knees are needed. A stop for coconut closes the trip. The air-conditioned vehicle comes with a driver and guide, and bottled water is on board; fuel and parking fees are covered. Meals and personal expenses are not, but the driver can stop for local Malang food on the way back to the hotel. A 2-hour ATV ride near the waterfall can be added at extra cost. Bring swimwear and trekking shoes. Not recommended for elders, children under 10, pregnant travelers or anyone with spinal or heart problems. Up to 6 travelers per booking; guiding in English and Japanese.
