Tumpak Sewu Waterfall Hiking Day Trip from Malang with Guide, Car and Entry Ticket
Tumpak Sewu is sometimes called the Niagara of Indonesia, and the numbers explain it: a 120-meter waterfall dropping past jungle and sharp cliffs. This day trip reaches it from Malang by car. Pick-up is in the morning at the traveler's accommodation in Malang City, whether hostel, hotel or guesthouse, and the operator contacts guests before arriving. The road to Lumajang Regency, home of the falls, runs past rice fields, mountains and quiet villages. At the site a guide leads the hike down to the base along a forest trail and across small streams. The trek is moderately challenging, and the bottom leaves time to explore, take photos and stand close to the water. After drying off and resting, the car heads back to Malang City, arriving around 4 to 5 PM. Parking, the entrance ticket, petrol, the car with its driver and an experienced guide are covered. Lunch and personal medicine are not, and pick-up or drop-off in Surabaya is outside the price. Hiking shoes and a change of clothes are worth packing, since things get wet. Moderate fitness is needed, and the trip is not recommended with poor cardiovascular health. Up to 30 travelers per booking. Guiding is in English, and service animals are allowed.
