Two-Day Tumpak Sewu Falls and Bromo Sunrise Trip with Overnight Near Bromo
Between pickup and the first view of the falls there are five to six hours on the road, so this two-day trip suits people who accept a long drive for two big sights. Departures are from a hotel or the airport in Surabaya, or any location in Surabaya or Malang, with start times between 6 and 9 am. Lunch on the way is at the traveler's own expense. Tumpak Sewu, known as a thousand waterfalls, is a curtain of water falling down a semi-circular cliff, surrounded by jungle and mist. From there the route continues for around five hours to the Bromo area, where the night is spent. The next pickup is at 3 am for the sunrise from a viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan, where first light hits Bromo's smoking crater, the perfect cone of Mount Batok and Mount Semeru in the distance. A 4WD jeep then crosses the Sea of Sand before the hike to Bromo's crater rim. Cancellation brings a full refund up to six full days before departure, half back between two and six days, and nothing within two days.
