Wailua River Kayak and Waterfall Hike with Deli Lunch from the Kayak Kauai Marina Store
Five hours, a double sit-on-top kayak and a lunch order placed in advance. The day starts at the Kayak Kauai store at Wailua River Marina (guests meet at the building, not at the launch area) and combines a river paddle, a rainforest hike and a swim beneath a 120-foot waterfall. Lunch is a deli sandwich, chosen from turkey, ham, salami, veggie or PBJ when calling or emailing ahead; turkey is the default, and vegan or gluten-free requests can be accommodated if noted. Hawaiian chips, a fresh-baked cookie and cut pineapple come with it. Gear is included: water-resistant bags, life jackets, walking sticks and a state-certified guide trained in water safety. Cold filtered water is available at the store for refilling a bottle. The trail can be muddy and uneven and includes walking through water, so aqua shoes, Tevas or tennis shoes are needed, but not flip-flops or crocs. Pack sun protection, a light shirt, a bathing suit, a towel and a change of clothes. The guide may refuse anyone who seems unable to complete the paddle or hike safely. There is no transportation: hotel pickup and drop-off are not included, and check-in is 15 minutes early. Up to 12 travelers can be on a booking.
