A two-day guided route that gives the first day to Angkor and the second to Phnom Kulen National Park, the birthplace of the Angkor Empire. Day one starts with a hotel pickup between 4:30 and 5:00 am for sunrise at Angkor Wat, then about 90 minutes inside the temple before the crowds arrive. Breakfast is Khmer noodle soup with palm cake and steamed rice dumplings with palm sugar in a village, followed by Pre Rup, Ta Prohm, the Bayon, the two terraces and the South Gate of Angkor Thom, with a transfer back to the accommodation. Day two leaves the hotel between 8:00 and 8:30 am and crosses rural villages and rice paddies on the way up Kulen. The stops are the Poeng Ta Kho cliff viewpoint, the 1000 Lingas riverbed, the largest 16th-century reclining Buddha in Cambodia and the waterfall, where a picnic of local food is served. The Kulen Mountain admission ticket, breakfast on day one, the picnic lunch on day two, an air-conditioned minivan or minibus, an English-speaking guide, and cold water and towels are included. The Angkor pass and soft drinks are not. Up to 10 travelers can share a booking, and the route suits all fitness levels.
