2-Day Angkor Wat Sunrise, Phnom Kulen, Kampong Phluk and Tonle Sap Tour by Private Vehicle
A two-day route built around three kinds of scenery: the temples of Angkor, the waterfalls and carved riverbed of Phnom Kulen, and the flooded mangrove forest around Tonle Sap Lake. At Phnom Kulen National Park the stops are the largest waterfall in Cambodia, the reclining Buddha statue and the River of 1000 Shiva Lingas. A boat tour then reaches Kampong Phluk, a cluster of three stilted villages on the floodplain about 16 km southeast of Siem Reap, ending at a Buddhist monastery on an artificial island before the return to town. The best months for this village are August to March. The Angkor day starts with a 4:40 am lobby pickup (travelers should ask the hotel to pack breakfast), the purchase of the Angkor pass and sunrise at Angkor Wat. The route continues through Angkor Thom (South Gate, Bayon, Baphuon, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King), lunch at a local restaurant near Angkor Wat, and Ta Prohm. Included are a vaccinated English-speaking official guide, a vaccinated experienced driver, an air-conditioned private vehicle, and cold water and towels. The Phnom Kulen pass, the Tonle Sap Lake pass with the boat cruise, the one-day Angkor pass and travel insurance are not. Up to 15 travelers can book together. It is not recommended for pregnant travelers or those with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health.
