2-Day Crystal Ice Cave, Jokulsarlon and Diamond Beach Tour with Aurora Watch
Two days on the south coast take in waterfalls, black sand beaches, glacial lagoons and an ice cave, with the guide also trying to find the Northern Lights when atmospheric conditions allow. The first stops are Seljalandsfoss, with its path behind the water, and Skogafoss, 60 metres tall and 25 metres wide, whose mist often forms rainbows on sunny days. Vik, Iceland's southernmost village, is known for its black sand beaches and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks, and Reynisfjara has basalt columns and powerful waves; its tides are unpredictable, which makes it dangerous as well as striking. The ice cave is the Crystal Ice Cave in Vatnajokull glacier, a formation of translucent blue ice that changes with the meltwater and is visited each winter. Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon follows, with icebergs drifting through clear water under Vatnajokull, then Diamond Beach nearby, where icebergs wash up on black sand. Expect long drives: between 4 and 5 hours of driving on both days. Hotel or bus stop pickup, WiFi on board, breakfast and a guide are included, with guiding in English and up to 15 travelers per booking. All fitness levels are welcome. Cancellations made at least 3 full days before departure are refunded in full, and later ones are not refunded.
